The Great Science Share 2026

Lesson: Science

On Thursday 18th June, a group of Year 4 children went into Stockport to take part in the Great Science Share 2026. We set up our own investigation which explored the effects of coral bleaching! We used skittles and water to investigate whether different temperatures of water affect the speed at which skittles lose their colour.

The children led the investigation themselves and presented it to groups of children and adults from other schools. They then had the opportunity to explore other investigations around the room. The children behaved impeccably and had such a lot of fun!

The children were excellent scientists - we were so proud of their scientific thinking, thoughtful questions, confident presenting skills and general behaviour. The children were fantastic ambassadors for St Matthew's! Well done!
