Behaviour at St Matthew's

'Let your Light Shine'

This is our school motto, devised using teachings from Matthew 5:14-16 of the Bible. We acknowledge that in life we want to do right by others and always make the right choice but that we sometimes make mistakes along the way and that this is ok. This is something we will be promoting with all children at St Matthew's CE Primary School.  We want our children to have a can-do attitude towards their personal goals and have the confidence to take risks with their learning, understanding that mistakes do happen and that we can learn from them to better our learning journey in the future. This is all part of the learning process.

In the Spring Term of 2023, Mrs McDonald, Mrs Holmes and Miss Garner, our Behaviour Champions, worked alongside the children of St Matthew's to develop our 'Behaviour Blueprint' further, ensuring that their vision for St Matthew's is at the forefront of all that we do.

We came together to discuss what our school rules would be and how they needed to be succint, simple and understandable for all ages. Our three golden rules are:

Be Kind, Be Ready, Be Safe

We also updated our behaviour policy in Summer 2023 to reflect the postive relationships we want to maintain and build alongside the restorative approaches that we use during circle times and when restoring friendships after things that have gone wrong.
